is the capital of the western province of Liguria. The area around Imperia is also known as the Riviera dei Fiori (Flower Riviera), since the local production of flowers is one of the largest in the whole Italy. City Imperia was founded in 1923 by Mussolini who unified 2 existing towns - Porto Maurizio and Oneglia. Oneglia is an industrial part while Porto Maurizio is a charming for tourists and is dominated by a large neo-classical cathedral. Due to the long sandy beaches and slow entry into the sea, Imperia is an ideal place for family holidays.
